We have (unfortunately!) a corporate policy against using ANY open source program. UG! It's based on the premise that we'd have no one to sue if there was a trojan buried in a program we used, thus making our liability unlimited. Yuck.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND REMEDIES. Like Microsoft software, the ActivePerl distribution comes with a <A HREF="http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/license_agreement.plex">license agreement</a activestate.com> that disclaims all warranties on the software:
5. THIS PACKAGE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTIBILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
