linux is not moving away from the CLI, it is improving the GUI interface so both are very usable. In the future, if the next generation doesnt learn the CLI, there will be many servers having the same problems if LINUX switches to a GUI interface like Windows. The glory of LINUX is having the GUI ontop of the CLI, instead of integrating the two, which in turn makes servers more secure not having extra things that aren't needed, and allows processes, (like auto-update) to run automatically independent of the GUI. ie. in<nobr> <wbr></nobr>/etc/crontab 1 * * * * apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade -y will check for any updates once an hour
