It's Linux, folks. All distros are free for the download, excepting whatever small proprietary bits the manufacturers have added! Having said that, there are some distros that are directly aimed at schools. As others have mentioned, K12LTSP and SkoleLinux are of that type. Others are Blue Linux, kmLinux, AbulEdu, SLIS, and DebianEdu.
