I begger to differ.. the author seems to be in a general state of cofusion. He does seem the distinction between user and kernel space has not rained in on him. He proposes to solve performance issues without having done any kind of performance analasys: KDE/GNOME is perceived as slow, so let's replace the underlying windowing system. Before I would dive into such a task I would want to be sure the replacemement is going to make GNOME/KDE faster. He proposes solutions for problems that do not exist, I for the life of me can't figure out what problem is solved by removing the "shell prompt" altogether: console driver redundant, the same for getty and a few<nobr> <wbr></nobr>/bin/*sh: saves a whopping 1.1M on my box..
Your assertion that it the article is a requirements wish list is bluntly false: is a wish list plus sollutions and implementention. It is mostly the latter for which the author is critised.
