This happened to me as well on one of the computers - the boot process hanged during the hardware detection stage with kudzu. The trick was to enter Interactive mode (by pressing "I" when prompted) and saying no to kudzu. This way the system managed to boot up without hanging.
Of course, it might just be a bad download or a bad CD...
