Sorry, but Linux is not good for PRO protographers yet. There is no 16bit per channel support on Gimp 1.3.x and it won't be for that new version, according to its maintainer. That's a huge blow for photographers. CinePaint has added 16bit support but that app is not specialized in photography anymore, we would need a Gimp with 16bit support!!
