I am actually willing to entertain the idea of Infinium Labs being totally taken over by new talented people who can possibly lead IL to success.
However I must take issue with this news report. It is very well written mostly. It states the problems with PC games very clearly, and gives out a simple yet detailed explanation of what IL and DISC plan to do about it. My issue is that the article doesn't point out just how difficult it is to make IL's business plan actually work. Regardless of any new talent IL may have acquired, the original idea for the Phantom was created by a fraudster, and many experienced people referred to the idea as a halfway viable business plan.
Overall I like the article, but it needs to be more more skeptical of the Phantom given IL's history.
P.S.
. Good games from five years ago are still good games, and thousands, if not millions, of gamers enjoy classic games using emulators.
Funny they should mention that. Another thing the article failed to point out is that it is very unlikely for the Phantom to be hacked or modded in any way. In other words it is unlikely that anybody will find a way to get it to play emulators. Apex has actually invited the idea of allowing people to hack into their consoles, which may mean that emulators may run on the ApeXtreme 1 day. The ApeXtreme is something that attempts to build itself to adapt to the PC world. IL wants to charge in and get more or less everybody to adapt to their new platform. This is probably why more games will be avaliable on the ApeXtreme as it's strategy is more industry friendly. Of course this P.S. is best left for a different discussion.
