At least to me, Democrats seem to be worse. Why? Their constituents, as you have pointed out, _expect_ them to be lying. Conservatives, on the other hand, expect to be told the truth. Although there are bad apples on both sides, conservatives will often throw someone out of office for lying, while democrats will simply go "I guess they are just politicians".
