I personally run a cvsup mirror for the DragonFly BSD project, and I can promise you, it is not slow at all. It has regular users all day long, never recieved a single complaint about transfer speed.
I really dont think that you even tried to use the mirrors.
You do have a valid point though, the src tree should really be on the CD. But it does not take one and a half day to download the sources via cvsup from my server. That has to be an error on your side.
As other people pointing out, much of the problems you experienced are either freebsd-related (like building X) or answered in the FAQ. If you would take your time to search the dragonflybsd archives for your SMP problem you would have seen alot of responses about it (disable ACPI or remove the serial console).
From what I read from your review, you did not take your time to investigate problems at all. You just said "this and that didnt work. too bad." without even trying to fix it.

Next time, do your homework.
