1. No fool. Watch yourself.

2. There *are* issues with DVD's on Linux. If you don't know what they are, you might want to. There are 2 different projects for producing writable disks on Linux, and one of them is in a state of controversy right now. I would have to go out and buy a DVD writer to produce DVS's, I don't want to bother doing it on Windows, and I'm in no hurry to do it on Linux.

For one thing, I have no interest in angering the MPAA over commercial movies, by downloading them/copying them and writing them to DVD. Most of the material I'm interested in is from the dempscene. These are generally short features. My TV is only 19 inches, not high-res. We've been happy with VHS cassettes for years, so I really have *no* good reason to produce anything of higher quality than that.

If I install a late version of, say, Fedora or Mandrake Community, and find that the DVD authoring tools are no longer encumbered by weird licenses and stipulations, and if I then feel like spemding money to buy a DVD writer, I will probably (likely) wrote DVD's.

To back up data files.

Meanwhile, SVCD is quite enough for video works which I know to not be hampered by copyrights and CSS.
