Developing on a platform that isn't open is just leaving you open to the charity of the people controling the platform.

What good is it to develop free and open source software if there is a very real possibility that the software could simply stop working with some future version and a license change could prevent you from making your application work with it.

The development time would all have been wasted.

Don't make the mistake of simply ignoring the platform you are running on.

You are a slave to the licenses you use. You better pick wisely.
