A better solution would be to use both kerberos and LDAP clients to gain the information from the AD. A native AD domain is already running a KDC and both the Heimdal and MIT clients ignore the proprietary bits in the tickets from the Domain Controllers. I also believe that to be able to access shares that are shared out via DFS require the client to prove itself with a kerberos ticket but I may be mistaken about that part.
