I've upgraded my and several other Fedora boxes with no problems whatsoever from 1 to 2 to 3. That's not a guarantee that every box ever made will work perfectly when upgrading but Red Hat has always been pretty good about upgrades. Unless you want to run the ever outdated Debian stable there is a also a chance that Debian will break from time to time as well. No OS updates perfectly ever single time.
I have to say its really annoying to have to constantly hear people say things that aren't true about Red hat and Fedora. You prefer Debian fine. But don't lie about Fedora in order to push your own agenda.
