You provided no reason to use ReiserFS (version 3) over Ext3FS. I think its a wrong decision because Ext3FS is one of the rather more popular filesystems in use on Linux (i mean in general and regarding journaling filesystems). It also allows backwards compatibility with other OSes and Ext2FS.
Ext3FS may not be the fastest which may be the reason you chose ReiserFS. Then again why not use XFS or JFS instead of ReiserFS? Is ReiserFS popular in combination with MySQL? Do you know which performs better? And perhaps the most interesting question: did you use a benchmark as argument for chosing ReiserFS in your test setup -- if so, which one?
