Going against the grain on this one, I had 13 P133s with 32MB RAM as thin clients in my school, and they were all just as responsive no matter whether I used IceWM, Gnome, or KDE. The client barely matters. I laugh when someone who claims to know about this tells me that I need 700MHz for a good thin client.
Some of us have been doing this for years, when 700MHz was a dream you would want as the server.
