David - thanks for summarizing my tutorial - I don't think you were explicit about your opinions, but I hope you enjoyed it and came away with something you'll find useful.
A minor nit: my 155 pages of slides have never been anywhere near PowerPoint - I use LaTeX, the seminar package, and a bunch of custom macros for my course notes.
