I used Sage for a long time, and I think in-browser RSS readers are the way to go since you can use tabs.
I tried My Yahoo, but wasn't satisfied with its options or layout.
I now use a Microsoft experimental website <a href="http://www.start.com/1/" title="start.com">http://www.start.com/1/</a start.com> Yes its Microsoft, but its an experimental "sandbox" project. Start is not terribly configurable, but I found the layout to be very intuitive. The icing on the cake is that the group appears to be dedicated to making sure the site works in Firefox. Start,com broke with FF 1.0.3, but they fixed in within a week.
So, you can view Start.com one of two ways. "Argh! Its Microsoft, I'll never use it!" or "Let's send Microsoft a message that Firefox is important"
