i pretty much learned php from this package. a crash course if you will with well written and consistent code. i had to ditch the admin interface because the design given to me was too far off from what oscommerce provides. for now, i have the commerce piece disabled but have a newer more beautiful interface in the works with a non-mysql search engine and actual commerce in the works. (http://betatoolsusa.com/).
i would recommend oscommerce to anyone with a little php experience (or none like myself initially) because of the vast assortment of extremely useful addons (http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions ) and helpful community (http://forums.oscommerce.com/).
great piece of software from a programmer
