but... I'm rather startled to see any open source movement active in the anti-capitalistic movement that the US liberal left has become... and even more startled to see it in a movement that is more and more about taking freedoms away from people than giving them real freedom.
Maybe I was the only one who paid attention in economics and politics classes, but the Democrats of the last 50 years have had policies about bigger governement, smaller personal freedoms, larger control, and more big-brothership that are distinctly against the freedoms expoused by the Free and Open Source communities. While I am aware that the Open Source commmunity evolved in a manner to remove the politics associated with RMS's Free Software movement, and that Open Source evolved in a way to remain seperate from politics..
It just seems more likely that I would see Open Source advocates behind the Bush Administration which has done more for personal freedoms in the past 5 years (even more in the past year), and that I would see Open Source advocates involved in an administration that is far more friendly to capitalism than any previous Democrat candidate or electee.
