I still see bad patches in many packaging systems (including Gentoo on occasion).
WOO! Even the perfect Gentoo has "on occassion" some bad patches, what an insight into the holy halls of the uber-Distribution. Please, can't you just leave out laudatios on yourself and projects you're involved unless what you're writing about is _exactly_ about that? It would make articles look much more serious.
