Try shred

Besides the minimal <tt>dd</tt> method, I like to use <tt>shred</tt>. It's included on most any live CD. Take a look at <tt>info coreutils shred</tt>.

<tt># shred -n 5 -z<nobr> <wbr></nobr>/dev/hda</tt>
(Use with caution.)
