I think you have the terms "security" and "obscurity" confused. Security is by definition just that. It'll stand up to scrutiny and peer review. Obscurity is just smoke and mirrors. An example at the top of my head: Using SSH for remote management is security. Moving the Telnet daemon to a non-standard port is obscurity. Which would you go for?
