...but these Judges are not asking prosecutors to violate Federal copyright protection, as the source code is not going to be used for anything other independent review by an expert third party. However, what the Judges CAN do is hold the company in contempt, issue escalating fines, throw out every single drunk driving case involving these breathalyzers, and generally make life such a living hell, not only for this company, but also its end users (read: law enforcement agencies) that those end users find an alternative that CAN be judicially reviewed.
Rule #2: Don't f*** with the people in the black robes. They hold a lot more power than you do.
(Rule #1 is the same, but applied to the people in the blue uniforms with the guns and big sticks who can put you in a cage...)
