you don't minimise photoshop or any other application on neither mac os x nor X11. you minimise independent document windows. it's only windows coming from redmond which force an application-centric instead of a document-centric interface metaphor onto the user. and not-being-used-to-it does not translate into 'worse' in that or many other cases.
