Hey I'm with you!! I have fond memories of using a track ball on a Toshiba 1950CS notebook (probably more laptop then) in the early 90's. Still the sweetest pointing device I have ever used, the only downside being that it required frequent cleaning due to (I think) oil secreted from my thumb building up on the ball and attracting dust. I would gladly swap any mouse, track-point, glide-point, whatever, used since with one of these.
