Debian is not the free software community

While it is worth listening to points raised by Debian, you're attributing far more weight to Debian than they either have, or deserve, in the free software community.

The so-called "Debian free software guidelines" are well-intentioned, but some really silly decisions have come out of Debian - for example, the rejection of all the documentation which is licensed under the GNU FDL. They're becoming the Robespierre of the Free Software revolution.
