Debian GNU/Linux is irreplaceable

I fully agree that the FSF is *THE* cornerstone of our entire community and *THE* entity which made not only GNU and the Linux kernel what they are today. Furthermore, the FSF is the number one defender of IT freedoms. That is why I joined it :-)

But the Debian project is still crucial and irreplaceable. It spawned off the very best GNU/Linux distros such as Knoppix, Damn Small Linux, Kanotix and others (notice I am *not* including the Mepis parasitical shape-changer in this list). It has the ONLY full community oriented and community controlled project and distribution which is not suseptible shall we say "corporate-creep". Debian's 1000+ maintainers support 16000+ applications under a clear and most ethical social contract. In sum, Debian GNU/Linux is the very best our community has produced so far, technologically and ethically. This is why we all, the FSF included, need Debian and should support it.
