You really have no clue.
1. FTP is the most efficient application protocol since it's designed for high payload. In 54Mbit, you can reasonably expect to get about 5 MByte of transfer rate; the reported 2Mbps is just absurdly wrong.
2. Wired Ethernet is also CSMA based, not any difference here.
