1) freebsd ports are fewer because i can have a single port and customise the configure options before installing. Debian has to have multiple precompiled versions of the package. I think it's pretty clear<nobr> <wbr></nobr>:) 2) The bacula client or server or whatever port is configured on installation to have support for mysql, postgresql whatever. 3) The port installation usually also installs the docs.
