They're reinventing the wheel, and having skimmed the whitepaper, I can't tell that this Conary stuff is any better than what I have under my fingers right now and build systems we had in 2002 with ALT Linux.
Maybe better than Red Hat's typical rigid approach but *that* level of hype around this seems lacking ground.
