We also struggle with organizing pages in our intranet. I'm starting to think that using mediawiki effectivey requires a paradigm shift in the enterprise away from a heirarchical organization of docs.
Forget browsing by subject and rely more heavily on the search. Thank goodness the search works pretty well.
