I already run a "heterogenous" (I assume homogenous was a mistake) network.

I would like to add Mac machines in. Here are my questions:

Does the Mac support NIS maps for login? I currently use NIS for Linux/Solaris but not for Windows. NIS publishes my login information giving my network users the ability to login on any device. NIS maps also publish automount information. This allows consistent directory layout no matter what machine is used. How does the Mac automounter work?

How about network booting from a tftp server? &etc.

Basically:

DHCP
TFTP network boot
NIS
AUTOMOUNT
NFS

For the basics. This article BARELY covered NFS. I guess I will have to go through the rest myself...
