I think it's scary how companies like M$ still manage to hold a fat foot in the door.
M$ will only play nice with open standards when hell freezes over. Their idea of an 'open standard' is something they can pervert for their own selfish purposes.
What's also scary is that M$ manages to make threats disguised as 'suggestions' or 'inquiries' and companies and even governments start to tremble on their feet.
No doubt the lobbying, direct or under various disguises, will begin soon.
