silly rename is not a new feature of NFSv4, it's used on v2 and v3.
NFS over TCP is not new with NFSv4, it's been working fine with v3 and even v2 for years. What v4 does is require TCP-like semantics of its underlying transport protocol, so it's difficult to use over UDP.
I know Olaf knows these things, so I presume the errors are the reporter's mistake.
