While I'm no legal-eagle, what they've done is put a nice GUI interface infront of all the normal http daemons, plus some of their own.

However, I know it works, and it works well.

Yes, you can put the equivalent of an Astaro system together on your own with Open Source tools. How long is that going to take you? How much money is your time worth?

It takes generally 5-20 minutes to Install Astaro. Add a rule or two, and you're up and running within a minute after that.

You're paying them for the convenience of it all.

If you don't like that idea, please spend your own time and put together the open source equivalent of what Astaro has done and release it. I'll gladly use a free version!
