I heard good things about f-spot, installed it, and fired it up on a directory with 39,410 images. Last time I saw it update its window it was through 13,330 of the images, the load average was 13.43, and the swap partition was completely full. I will give it another half hour, and if it's not through I expect I'll kill it off--hope I can do it without rebooting. (Hmmm...it's made it through two or three more images in the last few minutes.) I fear the authors of f-spot need to consider the time and space complexity of their code.
