Bluetooth phone as modem

I disagree with you, poster above. Just because the article doesn't focus on exactly what *you* need, it's certainly useful... The world doesn't revolve around you... If you just want to connect to the net, get wifi. It's the right tool for the job.

 
Bluetooth is great for connecting peripherals without having to bring the wires. Such as <a href="http://www.arpx.net/article.php/bluetooth_gprs_phone_linux" title="arpx.net">using a bluetooth phone as a modem for linux</a arpx.net>, or transferring your pics from the phone to the laptop. easily achieved with <a href="http://triq.net/obex/" title="triq.net">obexftp</a triq.net>.

 
Your critisism is like critisizing a tractor manufacturer because their things with wheels on them aren't particulariliy good race cars.
