Earily familiar?

This is Asia's version of the fiasco that was United Linux in the west. For their own sake, I hope that it lasts longer than United Linux did.

Asianux is similar to Red Hat because most of it came from Red Flag Linux which started out as a Chinese port of Red Hat.

The thing that makes Red Flag/Asia Linux unique, other than the fact that it is in Chinese and Japanese, is the management tools.

Red Flag made the various tools for DHCP, DNS, Apache and others look almost exactly like their Windows 2000 counterparts. It was no problem for any Windows administrator to use Red Flag, provided they spoke Chinese. I really like Red Flag admin tools and have hoped for a few years to see them ported to other distros or at least translated to English but, I haven't seen that yet.

It's too bad that the tools have not been ported because, with the Red Flag admin tools, an experienced Windows admin can easily and comfortably manage the server without any prior Linux exposure. The tools look almost identical.
