apt-listbugs - Lists critical bugs before each apt installation
I skimmed the article so I don't know if apt-listbugs was mentioned. I know having that program installed has saved me from tons of frustration and grief many times. Of course it's not a panacea but it is a another tool to aid a sys admin make wise decisions in avoiding installing broken/buggy packages.
