Do any of these solutions help with the "package xxx held back" message? I've tried both Mepis and Kubuntu (5.10), didn't change any of my apt sources, and did the apt-get update/upgrade thing consistently. But in both cases, within days of installing, I'd get that "package xxx was being held back" often when I knew there was a newer version available. Searching the web turned up some general info, but never a real fix.
