It sounds like the author doesn't have a clue about boot loaders.
LILO is not an out-of-date boot loader like the author makes it out to be. I use it as a matter of preference, and there are loads of cool things you can do with it, if you do your research.
Triple-booting, using one boot loader to call another, is really stupid. It is easy to configure one or the other to load three OS's, and to remove the one that you do not want.
You DO NOT change LILO's configuration by simply changing the configuration file. Before rebooting you must run the command,
