Apple uses CUPS, it's basically the same setup that Linux uses. Setting up has not been a problem for me since the Major distros started using cups. I have a laptop using opensuse 10, a desktop using Fedora Core 4 and another laptop with pclinuxos, none of these distros are a difficult to use. I print to a choice of 3 networked printers all xerox phasers, and a HP LaserJet attached via LPT on my desktop, which shares that printer with several Macs and windows machines via both samba and ipp. At home my laptops share an HP 5550C ink jet printer via ipp to my iMac. What mess? Printing has always been the least of my worries with linux since 1996. Scanners now that's a mess!
