You have more problems than Ubuntu if typing four charcters is driving you "crazy".
It's just a command.
Working from a root terminal is something the average user should refrain from.
From a security standpoint, your rant is a disservice to those new to linux. Sudo, is a saftey feature. Heck, there are those that think sudo is too powerful and should be done away with. And you're advocating skipping sudo and working straight from root?
