Expect has saved my job a few times, and I don't just mean figuratively, it really has saved my position. Back in 2000 when the dot com bubble burst my job as a network engineer was on the cutting block of my company. I picked up expect and started writing scripts that automated IOS changes, Security changes, etc. I had one that involved changing a few lines in a 1000 routers, but only if certain conditions were met. Expect easily allowed me to automate what would normally be a labor intensive two week project into a two days. I was transfered to a tools group where I continued developing apps that automated everything from password changes to system administration.
TCL is also one of the best, languages on par with PHP in my opinion. I've tried Perl, and I can program in it if I have to, but Give me TCL / Expect any day.
What do you Expect?
