One problem. The author did not specify the nature of the technical limitation. For example, what if the problem were bandwidth related? If the author was stuck on a dial-up connection or other slow connection (shared wifi at a coffee shop?), VNC (or anything else) tunnelled over SSH would be too slow to be useable. Even moreso given that the connection between the two computers probably has a fair amount of latency as well since they're on opposite coasts.
