This is stupid. There's no other word that'd better fit.
You want to use 64bit Linux ? Don't get me wrong for this line, but: just do it ! And I mean it. I've been using 64bit ~amd64 Gentoo for 8 months now, no hangups, definitely not more bugs than in 32bit (so few I'd really have to think hard to recall some), and it's really nothing you can't do.
And no, do not expect more bugs and hangups. Expect to do your part (educate yourself and do know what you're doing) and get a good system in the end.
