Edgy Eft "UUID's" in fstab

Posted by: Anonymous Coward on October 05, 2006 01:33 AM
Are the UUID strings that are used to name devices in Edgy Eft's fstab, instead of the common (simpler) /dev/hda etc.. physical location naming method, a product of this (outlined) new init method?

If so, explain why these UUID's are necessary as part of this new method? It seems to smell of Microsoft's intrusive UUID hardware-hash check nonsense.

If it isn't an absolute requirement. Lose It!
