Why not just...

...Start a project that is based on something like Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, or whatever, and modify the default GUI (KDE or Gnome) to make it look more like Windows? Include changes to the repository list such that most people can get the stuff they need without doing things via command line. (adding non-OSS codecs and such).

Distribute this modification package via GPL, and end this crappy Distro's future.

The main reason I left Windows, was because of the rise of WGA in WinXP and future "anti-piracy" schemes. (ie: disabling functionality in Windows Vista)

And now, here comes a distro that emulates the exact things that disgust me about Windows!

What annoys me more, is the way they market this distro. (reminds me of a typical sly marketing tactic)...They don't tell you about the limitations until AFTER you've tried it out!

At best, I see this as nothing but a scam. Folks are pretty brave if they send their credit card details to some unknown company in Russia!

I have no problem for someone wanting to make money with open-source. Its how they go about it that worries me the most.
