Ok, I am one of the core developers of LedgerSMB, but since this is about SQL-Ledger, I think they missed a few key issues.
We split from SQL-Ledger because we didn't find the author's response to security issues to be adequate (and that is putting it kindly). Even today, we have notified him of a number of serious security issues we have fixed in our fork and these remain unpatched...
LedgerSMB is also a truly open project. We have open documentation, a diverse development community, a lot more polish (the setup.pl detects and downloads dependencies, for example), better security, better data integrity controls, and quite a number of other features not found in SQL-Ledger.
Our development is proceding at a very rapid rate. LedgerSMB 1.1 has been available for a bit over a month and our next version is already around the corner (with credit card processing, better tax handling and more). This is in large part due to a top-notch team of developers from across North America and a community of contributors from around the globe.
LedgerSMB-- more polish, more features, more...
