and a system that will survive hardware changes. I installed gentoo in August 2003 and I'm still using the same installation, even if I changed almost everything, including the root hard disk (twice). Last month I upgraded my cpu from an athlon xp to an athlon64, changing motherboard and video card as well, but "wtmp begins Fri Aug 1 22:35:22 2003" as always.
